Clinic Director Joseph Canova D.C.
Dr. Canova is the Clinic Director of Hoboken Integrated Healthcare and has been in private practice since 1989. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey and his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. He is board certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, The New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners and the New York and California Boards of Chiropractic Examiners.
As director of Hoboken Integrated Healthcare his area of expertise includes sports injuries, treatment of auto injuries, stress management, scoliosis, sciatica, neck and lower back disc injuries, spinal decompression, and headaches. Postgraduate studies include certifications in Manipulation Under Anesthesia, Non-invasive Electrodiagnostic Testing, and Body Balance for Performance Evaluation of Golf Biomechanics.
Dr. Canova is a noted lecturer in the areas of stress, auto injuries and various other health related topics. He has lectured at Bloomfield College, the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, New Jersey School of Medicine, and various schools, businesses and civic organizations in the community.
Dr. Canova is a former Board Member of Chiropractic Advisors at Bloomfield College and former trustee of the Elisha Kent Kane Historical Society. He is a member of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors.
Dr. Hussein Jaafar, DPT - Physical Therapist
Dr. Hussein Jaafar attended William Paterson University, earning a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2012. He was captain of the men's soccer team at William Paterson University and was involved with the athletic department. He completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2018 at New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, Long Island. Hussein has several certifications in personal training and had his own personal training business for the past 5 years.
He worked at the Jewish Community Center from 2012-2014 as a fitness and post-rehab specialist. He specializes in core and hip strengthening, which has been shown to be a leading preventative factor to help lower back pain. His passion in this field has pushed him to continuously attain further knowledge through continuing education for the most recent manual techniques that would assist his patients. Hussein prides himself to be heavily manual based with his approach for helping all types of conditions such as knee/hip osteoarthritis, lumbar disc herniation and shoulder rotator cuff tears.
Heather Trujillo, L.Ac. (MSOM, NCCAOM)
Heather Trujillo graduated with a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine in 2007. Heather's studies have brought her to California, China and back home here to the Tri-state area. Heather practices mostly in Traditional Japanese Meridian Therapy style (TJM). This means thinner needles with a gentle approach that is both relaxing and highly effective.
Heather's specialties include Pain Management, Women's Health, Anxiety, Depression, and Digestive conditions. A down-to-earth attitude coupled with over 20 years of experience with the physical and emotional body provide you with individualized progressive care. Through compassion, skill and patient education, she is devoted to treating the whole person and assisting you in achieving your health goals.

Rick Diaz - Physical Therapist Assistant
Rick Diaz, PTA, graduated from Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, where he earned top honors as a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society upon receiving his Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Rick's love of exercise, appreciation for the amazing complexity of the human body, and determination to progress throughout his career while helping people in need of care, have all contributed to forging a dynamic and deeply motivated professional career.
The challenge in satisfying all of these interests had initially sparked the direction of Rick's path, which was driven further upon suffering a shoulder injury while snowboarding. The experience brought to light physical therapy as the discipline to pursue, even though he had been navigating toward completing a nursing degree. As both a patient and a student, Rick was moved and motivated by the opportunity to be of service in helping patients improve their quality of life and contributing to their progress over time. Upon treatment completion for his injury, Rick was accepted into the highly respected Physical Therapist Assistant program. Rick's finds balance in a busy, yet fulfilling, profession by staying active through hiking, swimming, snowboarding, and weight training.
